Congratulations to all athletes who will be on the 23-24 WEGO Wildkits.
The WEGO Wildkits will be participating in the Dupage Youth Travel Basketball League. The league runs from November 1, 2023 till the first week of March. This is an exciting new opportunity for our kids as we will be playing feeder teams from many of the area high schools. We will be holding tryouts & practices starting on Monday, September 18th at 6:00pm at West Chicago High School. Click on the button below to see the complete schedule.
We plan to host at least two teams (5th/6th & 7th/8th). There will be no fee to tryout for the teams. On the 18th we will also have the fee schedule to participate. If you plan on having your child tryout, please click on the Register for Tryouts button below.

WHO WE ARE
The WEGO Wildkits are the official Feeder Team of the West Chicago Wildcats Girls Basketball Program. Our goal is to teach the game we love to District 94 grade school girls. We focus teaching the fundamentals of the game, learning to work as a team, meeting other girls that will be joining your daughter in High School and having fun!
Our coaching staff is made up of volunteer coaches who are passionate about teaching the game of basketball. The program is run by Mark Fitzgerald, the Girls Varsity Basketball Coach at West Chicago High School and his coaching staff.
OUR MISSION
Our mission focuses on two primary objectives: Identify young competitive athletes who actively demonstrate the skill, commitment and attitude to take the sport to the highest level. Help strengthen their individual and team skills, challenge their competitive spirit, and in turn, prepare them to excel at the high school and collegiate levels. There are three main skills that we have chosen as our main focus:
- SPORT SKILLS
Teach advanced fundamental skills as well as the rules of the game.
Stress the importance of mastering those fundamental skills in order to advance to the next level of competition.
Provide an opportunity to compete at the highest level available.
2. PERSONAL SKILLS
Develop players’ athletic ability to their full potential by promoting physical fitness & striving for perfection.
Require that our players always give 100% at all practices and games.
Teach our players to listen and follow directions.
Instill responsibility in our players by having rules and consequences for violating those rules.
Develop a work ethic in our players.
Teach our players that they must set their goals high and work hard to achieve them.
Develop self-discipline and leadership qualities in our players.
Help our players to develop confidence and pride, and to increase their self-esteem.
Demand that our players always exhibit a positive attitude.
3. SOCIAL SKILLS
Teach our players to have respect for authority.
Teach our players to respect their teammates, as well as to have self-respect.
Teach our players responsibility by making them responsible for team equipment that is issued to them, as well as making them responsible for getting to team functions (games, practices, fundraisers, etc) on time.
Develop high morals and good sportsmanship and teach fair play.
Instill in our players the importance of teamwork, taking personal responsibility for their actions, and honoring their commitments to their teammates.
Teach our players to have pride in there team.
